New Delhi, May 23. Diplomacy in the Indo-Pacific has picked up pace. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in India on Saturday, with preparations in full swing for an important multilateral meeting next week.
The Quad meeting
Rubio's visit comes just ahead of a meeting of Quad (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) foreign ministers. The Quad comprises India, the US, Australia, and Japan, and the grouping advocates a free, open, and rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific.
What's on the agenda
The meeting is expected to take up issues such as maritime security, supply-chain resilience, emerging technologies, and regional stability. Recent global developments — including energy supplies and tensions between major powers — have made the dialogue all the more relevant.
